![]() ![]() ![]() With the third coming out on December 6th, now might be a good time to binge on the first two books. With an intricate magic system and a protagonist who relies on his wits rather than plot armor, it was the best book I read in the year until I read the second book in the series. ![]() With a fast-paced story line, great character building, and a magic school to the boot, the book never ceases to hold your interest. The book begins with the main character, Corin Cadence, entering a tower that grants powers to those who beat its challenges to find his older brother who had entered the tower five years ago and never returned. Hes headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess. If he can survive the trials, Corin will earn an attunement, but that wont be sufficient to survive the dangers on the upper levels. “Sufficiently Advanced Magic”, the first book in the series, had me sufficiently hooked at the title itself - a play on the famous quote “Sufficiently advanced science is indistinguishable from magic.” That’s exactly what happened with me and Arcane Ascension, a series in the Fantasy genre by Andrew Rowe. When I first saw the trailer for Three Houses, I laughed like mad because of how similar it. But when you only have curses for the author to release the next book, you know you’re onto something great. Sufficiently Advanced Magic (Arcane Ascension Book 1). The only way to describe some books is to call them unputdownable. ![]()
